Experience 21+ kinds of traditional Sicilian food and local specialties in the charming town of Castelbuono
This food tour takes place in Castelbuono, a lovely small town at the foot of the Madonie mountains and a famous place for gastronomy. The tour focuses on traditional food, especially the “cucina povera”, which is still much practiced in the rural parts of Sicily, and on very local specialties.
We will meet in the morning in a bar renowned for the goodness of its pastries. We will have the privilege to enter in the kitchen, meet the owners and taste some of their specialties.
We will then go for a short stroll in the upper part of the town and stop in an ancient Franciscan cloister for a nice aperitivo with local cheeses and other delicacies.
We will continue our foodie itinerary enjoying an exclusive mini-menu at the Michelin and Slow food awarded restaurant Nangalarruni. You will taste here the ancient savours of the “cucina povera”, born from the ingenuity of the Sicilian mammas, who were capable to transform very simple ingredients into delicious dishes.
We will have dessert in another wonderful restaurant located in an old noble villa, where the owner will have prepared “Testa di turco”, Castelbuono’s typical dessert, just for us. He will also make us taste his homemade liquors.
We will end our tour at Fiasconaro’s, now famous all over the world for its panettone. We will also taste here the manna, which is only produced from the local ash trees on Castelbuono and Pollina’s territory.
