Day 1
Arrival in Sicily, night in Sant’Ambrogio, a small village on the northern coast of Sicily, near Cefalù.

Night in B&B style accommodation

Day 2
We start our trekking from Sant’Ambrogio’s belvedere. We go up walking through country areas and enjoy beautiful views over the coast and Cefalù’s Rocca. We then cross Abbazia Santa Anastasia’s land, a renowned local winery and an elegant agritourism.
Stop for a visit of the winery and wine tasting and/or lunch at Abbazia Santa Anastasia (optional)
We continue towards Montemanna, a small hill dedicated to traditional cultivations such like almond trees, olive trees and above all ash trees which are still used here to produce manna. Demonstration of the manna production process and manna tasting.
In the afternoon we arrive at Castelbuono, a charming small town located at the foot of the Carbonara Massif.

Day 3
Transfer by car until the departure point of the trail for the crossing of the Carbonara Massif. Along the trail we stop at Piano Pomo, where there is an entire wood of giant holly trees, a place absolutely unique. The trail is punctated with amazing views, majestic trees and rare plants.
We arrive at Piano Battaglia (1600 m), the heart of the Madonie Mountains, in the afternoon.

Day 4
We leave the hotel in the morning and walk through the Battaglietta, a geological site which allows us to understand better the singularity and the high value of the surrounding landscape. We hike until Pizzo Carbonara, 1979 m, the Madonie’s highest peak and the second highest mountain in Sicily after Mount Etna.
After the hike, transfer to Cefalù, a lovely sea town famous for its Arab-Norman cathedral belonging to UNESCO’s world heritage. On our way we stop at the small village of Isnello, located at the foot of Monte Grotta Grande. We immerse in the special atmosphere of this place, where time seems to have stopped, and climb to the ruins of the ancient castle. From there, the view over the roofs and the mountains is stunning.

Castelbuono-Piano Sempria
Instead of a transfer on Day 3, we leave Castelbuono by foot and hike until Piano Sempria (1260 m), which is the departure point for the following day. We walk through woods of oaks and Mediterranean green oaks which were used in the past for vegetal coal production.

Monte Cervi
Instead of leaving the Madonie after the hike to Pizzo Carbonara, we stay another night at Piano Battaglia. On the following day we go hiking in the meadows and beech woods of Monte Cervi.
